Superkids®

Su
perKids® is an exciting, educational approach to teaching children the dangers of tobacco use and the value of community service. The SuperKids® program encourages schools and communities to show concern for lung disease victims by raising funds to support research and tobacco education programs. The basic framework of SuperKids® is as follows:
Educational Talk
A talk is scheduled approximately two weeks before the SuperKids® field day. A Lung Association representative will come to your school and present a 30-minute talk that includes education on healthy lungs and tobacco information (depending on the size of your student body and size of your meeting space, if necessary, several talks may be scheduled). The representative will also display incentive prizes. The children will receive a collection envelope listing the prizes and explaining the SuperKids® program.Prizes: After the talk, those children who wish to support the American Lung Association® of Mississippi have approximately two weeks to collect donations. Depending on the size of the student body, prizes may be distributed on the day of the field day event or a few days before.
Field Day
Every student participates in the field day. The field day event lasts approximately two hours. For schools that have large
student bodies, several events can be conducted. Volunteer judges assist in field day (can include either 1 –2 parents from each homeroom, assistant teachers, or a high school group who can spend the day at your school). The SuperKids® field day accommodates school schedules, and many schools choose SuperKids® to be their annual field day. By handling all of the details, the American Lung Association® of Mississippi makes sure that this program is very simple for your staff and teachers.
